On December 2-3, the delegation of the Republic of Armenia led by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan took part in the 114th meeting of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. As reported by the press service of the RA MFA, the Armenian delegation answered many questions raised by Committee members during the meeting. They presented the process of implementing legislative reforms to ensure equality and eliminate discrimination, efforts to protect the educational and cultural rights of national minorities, and the country's policy towards foreigners, migrants, asylum seekers, and various vulnerable groups.
The committee members were briefed on the needs of the internally displaced population from Nagorno- Karabakh, specifically on the actions taken by the Armenian government to establish stable living conditions for them. The Armenian delegation reaffirmed the Government of Armenia's commitment to ongoing democratic reforms in the country, ensuring the realization of economic, social and cultural rights for all segments of society.
