ArmInfo. Armenia and Uruguay have discussed the possibility of implementing joint programs in the educational sphere. This became known following a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Araksia Svajyan, with the Director of Language Policies of the National Administration of Public Education of Uruguay, Aldo Rodriguez, as well as the Chairman of the Armenian Branch of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), Vasken Yacoubian.
During the meeting, it was noted that with the support of the Uruguayan government, the AGBU teaches Armenian as part of a strategy to promote the study of foreign languages. The Armenian language teaching program was developed by the National Administration of Public Education of Uruguay in collaboration with the AGBU, and is utilized not only in Armenian schools. In this context, the parties discussed the possibilities of providing training for teachers and implementing exchange programs. During the meeting, the parties also touched upon the online English language training program for women forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, implemented by the Uruguayan branch of AGBU and the National Administration of Public Education of Uruguay, which has been quite successful. In this regard, they considered the possibility of implementing the program in secondary vocational education institutions.
As part of the visit to Armenia, members of the Uruguayan delegation will also meet with the Chairperson of the Language Committee, Siranush Dvoyan, and Artashes Torosyan, the Acting Director of the National Center for Education Development and Innovation Foundation. They will discuss potential collaboration opportunities and the feasibility of implementing joint projects.
