ArmInfo. Within a framework of working visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the President of ICC Tomoko Akane on December 2nd. The meeting discussed issues on cooperation between Armenia and the International Criminal Court As reported by the press service of the Armenian MFA, Mirzoyan emphasized Armenia's commitment to actively engage in international efforts aimed at upholding international legal norms and ensuring the rule of law.
The interlocutors also exchanged views on the challenges facing the international justice system, highlighting the importance of strengthening the role of independent judicial mechanisms to adequately respond to global crises and contribute to the promotion of peace. The significance of joint efforts in overcoming current challenges was mentioned as well. The meeting also touched upon the ongoing efforts to enhance national legislation in line with the Rome Statute provisions, aimed at regulating the procedural aspects of interaction with the court. The meeting was attended by the RA Representative on International Legal Affairs Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the First Vice-President of the Court Rosario Salvatore Aitala, and the Secretary General Osvaldo Zavala Giler.
