The people of Russia and Armenia will never forget the contribution that the outstanding Soviet commander and twice hero of the Sovier Unioin, Marshal Ivan Khristoforovich Baghramyan, made to the common victory over German Nazism in the Great Patriotic War. This is stated in a release by the Russian Embassy in Armenia in honor of Baghramyan's 127th anniversary. "His name is forever associated with the strategic victorious battles of the Great Patriotic War: the Battle of Kursk (July-August 1943), Operation Bagration to liberate the Byelorussian SSR and parts of the Lithuanian and Latvian SSR (June-August 1944) and the capture of Koenigsberg (April 1945)," the statement runs.
According to the RPA statement, released today, December 2, 2024, members of the Republican Party of Armenia placed flowers at the monument of Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Khristoforovich Baghramyan in Yerevan, to honor his memory on his birthday. "Ivan Baghramyan, born on December 2, 1897, was an outstanding military leader who made a significant contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. His strategic expertise and dedication have become an inseparable part of our country's history and world as a whole. Laying flowers at the monument of Marshal Baghramyan reflects deep gratitude for his invaluable contribution to history and the inspiration he continues to pass on to future generations. His memory remains alive and serves as a symbol of patriotism, honor and devotion to his people," the Republican Party of Armenia said in a statement.
