ArmInfo.Charge d'Affaires of Poland in Azerbaijan Michal Grecilo was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over Polish President Andrzej Dyda's participation in monitoring of the civil mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The most amusing aspect of this story is that Duda was on Armenian sovereign territory, where Azerbaijan has no jurisdiction.
In fact, amidst the international community's silent inaction, Azerbaijan has become increasingly bold, believing it has the right to dictate its terms to Armenia on its own sovereign territory. According to Azerbaijani media reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, a protest was lodged during the meeting with a diplomat. This protest was in response President Duda's visit to the Armenian-Azerbaijani frontline near Yeraskh, despite "warnings from the Azerbaijani side". Dusa participated in monitoring the situation on the frontline with the EU mission in Armenia.
"This mission has been misused as a tool against Azerbaijan, undermining its stated goals of fostering regional stability and trust building between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Such actions contradict the spirit of Azerbaijani-Polish relations, and it is necessary to avoid steps compromising Azerbaijan's legitimate security interests," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said, apparently forgetting that the Republic of Armenia has the freedom to do whatever it pleases on its sovereign territory and this is not Azerbaijan's concern.
