We do not question the sovereign right of each state to independently determine its foreign policy course, including participation in CSTO events and work within the organization, as stated by Maria Zakharova, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in response to Armenia's decision to not participate in the CSTO summit in Astana on November 28.
She emphasized that Armenia still remains a full member of the CSTO according to the law, and she described the organization as the only mechanism to maintain peace and stability in the South Caucasus. <Armenia retains all the rights and obligations. We expect that Armenia will fully resume its partnership within the CSTO for the sake of in the region. We confirm that at this stage the doors are open for Yerevan to return to full cooperation in the CSTO.
