"Western Azerbaijan" irritates Armenians, "Western Armenia" irritates  others - Nikol Pashinyan

ArmInfo. We find it very  difficult and consider it a problem when we hear the term "Western  Azerbaijan", and when we use the expression "Western Armenia", do we  not think that this also irritates certain people? 

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan asked  himself a similar question in an interview with the Public Television  of Armenia. At the same time, he did not rule out that the public  would call such a statement "another betrayal", "cruel meanness".  And, nevertheless, Pashinyan noted that just as we are irritated by  the expression "Western Azerbaijan", so others are irritated by the  expression "Western Armenia". 

"I am in such a situation that I am obliged to speak to the people  and show the cause-and-effect relationship. If I do not do this, it  means that I am deliberately leading our country to the loss of  statehood," the head of government said. 

On July 1, when accepting the credentials of the newly appointed  Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan Kevin Hamilton, in  response to the diplomat's comment on the right of return, President  of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that "the right of return must be  mutually ensured, including for representatives of the Western  Azerbaijan Community" (as the "constructive neighbor" calls the  Republic of Armenia). Thus, while the Armenian government advertises  its "Crossroads of Peace" project, the Azerbaijani authorities are  instilling in their society and on international platforms the idea  of returning to the so-called "Western Azerbaijan".
