ArmInfo.Armenian-Chinese relations are developing dynamically, as stated by Chen Ming, the Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Armenia, during a conversation with journalists at the international conference "Modernization of China: Armenian-Chinese Relations" on November 12th. In this vein, he mentioned that on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for the first time since 2019.
"The parties discussed issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation. We are certainly ready to assist in the development of Armenian-Chinese relations," the Chinese diplomat said. When asked about potential areas for developing cooperation, Chen Ming noted that China is aware of Armenia's current emphasis on developing high technologies in the country and Beijing has several advantages in this area.
"We are glad to see electric cars imported from China on the roads of Armenia and we believe there is potential for further development of our cooperation in the sphere of the so-called green society. This is just one area. Other promising areas of cooperation could include new energy sources, information technology and other areas," the Chinese diplomat emphasized.
Additionally, he noted that China is in favor of unblocking communications in the South Caucasus and promoting peaceful coexistence among the countries in the region. "We hope that the countries of the South Caucasus will be able to resolve all existing problems and challenges through peaceful negotiations," the diplomat said. According to him, considering that leading Chinese companies are interested in participating in the economic development of the region and improving infrastructure, China is ready to help with the peaceful resolution of current issues in the South Caucasus.
