ArmInfo. The working visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan started with a one-on-one meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Maria Stenergard. As reported by the press service of the MFA of Armenia, a wide range of issues on the agenda were discussed.
Prior to Mirzoyan's visit to Stockholm, the Prime Minister's Office and the Swedish MFA issued a joint press release. In particular, it was stated: " Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for International Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa and Minister for EU Affairs Jessica Rosenkrantz would be welcoming Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan from November 11-13. Mirzoyan's visit will begin with a working lunch with Malmer Stenergaard, followed by separate meetings with Dousa and Rosenkrantz. The ministers will discuss regional developments, bilateral trade, Swedish assistance for reforms in Armenia and enhancing Armenia's relations with the EU. Sweden provides extensive and growing support for reforms in Armenia. Between 2021 and 2023, total support has tripled. In 2023, it reached almost SEK 149 million.
During the visit, Mirzoyan will also meet with Riksdag Speaker Andreas Norlen and Swedish business representatives." In this regard, Malmer Stenergaard noted: "Armenia is an important foreign policy partner for Sweden and an interesting market for Swedish business. Sweden supports democratic reforms and the sustainability of Armenia. I welcome Armenia's desire to deepen relations with the EU."
