ArmInfo.The statue of People's Artist of Armenia, actor, and director Yervand Manaryan was unveiled in Yerevan today. Attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister's Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, representatives of the cultural sphere and others.
Zhanna Andreasyan and Yervand Manaryan's son, Krist Manaryan unveiled the statue. The 2.8-meter-high statue was installed in the area adjacent to 4 Sayat-Nova Avenue in Yerevan, in front of the Hovhannes Tumanyan National Puppet Theater. The statue was erected on the occasion of the actor's 100th birth anniversary.
By the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, AMD 65 million ($168,000) were allocated for the purpose. The author of the bronze statue is Armenak Vardanyan, Mikael Misakyan is the architect of the statue.
The opening ceremony was followed by the cancellation of a stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great actor and a photo exhibition. One stamp dedicated to the theme "Great Armenians. 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Yervand Manaryan" was put into circulation. The stamp with a face value of 380 drams depicts Yervand Manaryan (1924-2020). On the right side of the stamp there are the following inscriptions: "100 YEARS", "YERVAND MANARYAN" and "Armenian actor, director" in Armenian and English.
