The RA National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security, has issued a positive opinion on the amendments to the law "On Military Service and the Status of a Serviceman" submitted by NA deputies Andranik Kocharyan and Armen Khachatryan, at an extraordinary session on October 30.
According to Kocharyan, the document presented aims to attract experienced and qualified officers to the country's Armed Forces, without depriving them of their military pensions. The deputy expressed confidence that the implementation of this initiative will significantly improve the army's personnel situation. In turn, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Arman Sargsyan emphasized that the plan is to attract experienced officers up to the level of colonels and lieutenant colonels to the army. The most significant shortage of personnel is seen in the ranks of platoon, company and battalion commanders.
