ArmInfo. In 2025, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia (MoESCS) will receive approximately 4.7% from the state budget than planned for 2024, totaling about 16.1 billion drams. In this regard, the head of the department, Zhanna Andreasyan, pointed out that the rise in expenses is a result of increased costs in several areas.
In particular, she pointed to preschool education, noting that instead of 2.7 billion drams in 2024, over 4 billion drams will be spent next year. Andreasyan also mentioned mass sports, where expenses will increase from 3.5 billion drams to 6.2 billion drams.
At the same time, there will be a significant rise in expenses related to the implementation of the new educational standard. While 121.9 billion drams were allocated for these purposes this year, the budget for 2025 plans to allocate 132 billion drams. "This is the impact of the new educational standard, changes in teachers' salaries, the introduction of an individual schedule, etc. It was previously mentioned that the introduction of the new educational standard would entail an increase in school funding. Therefore, funding is expected to increase by 10 billion drams as a result of these changes," she noted, adding that there are also plans to increase expenses in various other areas.
