Armenian authorities promises of withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops  after border demarcation groundless - opposition MP

ArmInfo. The assurances of the Armenian authorities that Azerbaijani troops will be withdrawn from  the sovereign territory of Armenia as a result of demarcation are generally groundless. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the  opposition faction With Honor. 

In this regard, the deputy drew attention to the fact that even the  presence of signed documents, international resolutions or norms of  international law does not stop different countries of the world from  aggression, occupation of the territory of other countries and  fulfillment of their obligations. "The agreements reached by the  Armenian authorities are vulnerable even in documentary terms and  give Azerbaijan the opportunity to act depending on the situation,"  Abrahamyan added.

In this regard, he emphasized that the very presence of a provision  on segmental demarcation in the demarcation rules is a time bomb that  can explode at any moment and send events in an unpredictable  direction.

The day before, in the country's parliament, Chief of the General  Staff of Armenia Edward Asryan, when asked by journalists whether he  agreed with the statement of the Armenian Prime Minister that the  issues of de-occupation of the territories of the Republic of Armenia  should be resolved through political and diplomatic means, gave an  affirmative answer. "I definitely share this position of our Prime  Minister, since the process of demarcation of the border with  Azerbaijan is currently underway, within the framework of which the  restoration of the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia  is expected," Asryan said.

When journalists asked whether he was sure that the Azerbaijanis  would leave the territory of Armenia, he gave an affirmative answer,  although he did not back up his convictions with specific arguments.
