ArmInfo.Every day, irrelevant content that has nothing to do with the actual problems faced by forcibly displaced Artsakh residents, is being thrown into Armenia's information field. Artsakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan stated this on his Facebook page in response to the published survey by the International Republican Institute (IRI) conducted among residents of Armenia.
Stepanyan explained that the survey provides an indicator of the Armenian government's efforts to address the issues of forcibly displaced Artsakh residents.
According to the results, 66% of respondents are satisfied with the management of the crisis caused by forced displacement. However, as the Artsakh Ombudsman emphasized, these results were obtained in conditions where the long-term housing program had actually failed. The "40 + 10 thousand" housing program, according to rumors, will only be in effect for special and vulnerable groups starting from January. Stepanyan also pointed out that a similar situation is observed with programs initiated for employment.
"This statement is further confirmed by the fact that the satisfaction percentage is higher among residents of rural areas in Armenia (73%), who primarily rely on Public Television of Armenia for information. The reality is that people facing social and everyday challenges eventually take the path of emigration," Gegham Stepanyan explained.
In addition, according to the Ombudsman, the survey was conducted among ordinary residents of Armenia, among whom there could be residents of Artsakh. "I am sure that we would have a completely different picture if the survey had been conducted among residents of Artsakh," Stepanyan added.
