
ArmInfo. The Committee for the Defense of the Fundamental Rights of the People of Artsakh presented its plans for the next six months, outlining key areas focused on protecting the rights of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
This was reported during the Committee's meeting, which took place from October 18 to 20 in Yerevan. Planned activities included the preservation of the Armenian historical and cultural heritage in Artsakh, protection of public and private property, and the return of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages unlawfully detained in Baku.
During its three-day work, the Committee held meetings with Samvel Shahramanyan, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh and the head of the Artsakh Diocese. Additionally, a visit was also made to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, where they met with Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin I and shared details about their current work and upcoming plans.
The Committee noted that the issue of the collective, safe and dignified return of the people of Artsakh had been raised in various formats and was enshrined in the statements of a number of states and international organizations. "This circumstance lays the groundwork for the next stage of the Committee's works aimed at solidifying the achieved results and establishing an international negotiation framework for addressing the right to return," the press service of the Committee emphasized. Additionally, in line with the Committee's agenda and the Hayakve initiative, a round table discussion was organized. More than forty representatives from political, public, diplomatic and analytical circles of Armenia and Artsakh attended. The structure protecting the rights of the people of Artsakh confirmed its readiness to collaborate with all interested organizations and individuals to achieve the stated goals. The Committee for the Defense of Fundamental Rights of the People of Artsakh was created and authorized by the decision of the Artsakh Parliament on December 2, 2023.
