ArmInfo.Member of the executive body of the Armenian National Unity Party Armine Simonyan and member of the youth organization of the party Nane Baghdasaryan submitted a statement to the RA Prosecutor General's Office and the Anti-Corruption Committee on the illegal actions of the police.
We remind you that on October 18 at about 23:15, a group of civilians, accompanied by patrol police, stopped the car of party members, without providing any explanation. A total of eight party members, three of whom were girls, were detained.
All of them were released after being held overnight at the Shengavit police department. None of the suspicions raised by the police were confirmed. As a result of a medical examination, Armine Simonyan was diagnosed with a ligament injury in the left shoulder area, possibly a rupture that occurred when the police used force while taking her to the police station. Nane Baghdasaryan sustained wrist and shoulder injuries. Other members of the party also suffered due to the police actions. The statement also notes that none of the members of the Armenian National Unity were given the opportunity to contact a lawyer or a relative throughout the night.
