ArmInfo. This year, the Yerevan Municipality will subsidize travel on transport operated by Yerevan Bus CJSC in the amount of 7.5 billion drams. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan at a working meeting in the capital's municipality.
He noted that calls to reduce shadow turnover in the transport sector are often heard at meetings of the City Council of Elders. Meanwhile, Avinyan continued, work in this direction has never stopped, as evidenced by the growth in the income of Yerevan Bus CJSC. The task of the capital's authorities is to improve the quality of services provided, and 171 buses and 15 trolleybuses have already been purchased to solve this problem.
The mayor called on Yerevan residents to pay for public transport in two ways starting November 1: with 100-dram coins, which must be inserted into the appropriate device, or by using the preliminary unified ticket system, that is, by purchasing an electronic ticket using terminals with the appropriate QR code. This, Avinyan emphasized, will ensure consistent growth in the transport company's income, avoid shadow turnover of financial resources and simplify the full transition to a unified ticket system.
The mayor emphasized that starting next year, various tariff rates for the public transport project will be applied in the capital - daily, weekly and monthly. Thus, the new system will allow to some extent to ease the financial burden of the city hall.
At the meeting, it was noted that over the past four months, only 63.5 thousand people out of 3.769 million passengers used the unified ticket system. The income of Yerevan Bus CJSC for this period amounted to 2.8 billion drams, which exceeds the same indicator last year by 3.9%. In September alone, 801.7 million drams were collected. If we compare this indicator with the highest level of collections, the income exceeded the April indicator by 9%.
From January 1, 2025, new tariffs for travel on public transport will be applied in the capital of Armenia. Provided that one-time use in each vehicle, the cost of three trips will be 280-300 drams. From 880 to 900 drams for 1 day - 8 trips, 4800-5000 drams for 7 days - 30 trips. With an unlimited number of trips, the tariff will be 8800-9000 drams for 30 days, 23,600-24,000 drams for 90 days, 88,000-90,000 drams for 365 days, multiple-use ticket - 2100-2200 drams for 10 trips per month.
