ArmInfo. 47 police officers involved in drug use have been dismissed from the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia. This was announced by the head of the department Vahe Ghazaryan during parliamentary hearings on October 15.
According to him, the process of certification of employees is currently underway in the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the main conditions of which is testing them for drug use.
The minister added that illegal drug trafficking cannot but cause concern, but at the same time, it is necessary to keep in mind the increased effectiveness of law enforcement officers in preventing this trafficking. The patrol service has already identified over 1 thousand such cases. Basically, the minister continued, drugs enter the country in the area of the Meghri checkpoint.
The problem is also being addressed by the Main Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, under which a department for combating cybercrime has been created. The department has already identified numerous cases of illegal drug trafficking using social networks. Criminal cases have been opened against 40 persons involved in this type of crime.
Vage Kazaryan expressed confidence that thanks to the established cooperation with other departments and international structures, the problem of illegal drug trafficking on the Internet will be resolved.
