Armenian human rights activists Arman Tatoyan, Artak Beglaryan and Garnik Kerkonyan met in Paris with a group of members of the National Assembly of France and members of the Senate with the support of the Armenian Committee of France and the representative of the Committee Anahit Hakobyan.
As reported by the press service of the Tatoyan Foundation, meetings were held with member of the National Assembly Isabelle Santiago, chairman of the Armenian-French friendship group of the Senate Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, Senator Valerie Boyer and other legislators.
Evidence of Azerbaijani crimes in Artsakh and Armenia was presented at the meetings.
It is also noted that during the meeting, issues such as the mandatory release and return of Armenian prisoners and hostages illegally held in Azerbaijan, the genocidal policy of Azerbaijan towards the people of Artsakh, including the blockade, forced displacement and destruction of the Armenian spiritual and cultural heritage were discussed. It was noted that Armenian hostages are being tortured in Baku prisons.
The interlocutors also touched upon the mechanisms for the proper implementation of the right of the indigenous people of Artsakh to return in accordance with the decision of the International Court of Justice.
The agenda of the meeting also included issues related to the occupation of the territories of the Syunik, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor regions of Armenia by Azerbaijan since 2020, daily Azerbaijani crimes against civilians (deprivation, inability to earn income, facts of deprivation of drinking water, massive destruction of the environment, etc.). In this regard, the words were supported by documentary evidence.
"The parties also considered the ongoing policy of Azerbaijani racism, xenophobia and hostility against the Armenian people under the sponsorship of the highest authorities. The need to apply effective measures of responsibility against the Azerbaijani authorities for these and all other crimes was indicated, which will also have a deterrent effect on future Azerbaijani crimes.
Following the meetings, the delegation expressed gratitude to the French deputies and senators for their cooperation and assistance," the statement said.
