ArmInfo. In the near future, a judicial farce will begin over the former military-political leadership of Artsakh, held in Baku prisons. The Armenian public does not know in what conditions these people are held, what and how they are forced to say, reads an article by a member of the Alternative Projects group, Vahe Hovhannisyan.
"We do not know what scenarios Baku has prepared to create a picture of individual and national humiliation. We will witness a historical disgrace. We do not even know why Baku is holding these people captive and whether we have any developed strategy: how will we react to this test, how will we prepare our society for it? Do we understand what kind of shock our already broken society will experience? Do we understand what they can present to us to demoralize our already defeated and destroyed social system? I am not asking whether the authorities are ready, they are not ready for anything and have not been responsible to our society and people for a long time. I am talking about other political and public circles that have a sense of leadership," the political scientist said.
He noted that the Armenian public will have to face the most difficult scenes and phenomena. "Do we have a plan on how to respond to this and properly prepare our society? Do we understand that they are not only judging them, but all of us, all past and future, and that they want to break our future with this? Calls and actions in support are not what is required. We need the right tactics and mechanisms to work for a long time. It is necessary to make cold decisions," the political scientist believes. He believes that any decision should be based on the unconditional support of the prisoners.
"Whatever these people said during the "trial", these are words spoken under conditions of inhuman oppression and therefore have no meaning. There must be such support in Armenia and in the Armenian world so that the international community understands what is happening and cannot hide in its comfort. There must be such support in the political and public sphere that will improve the field and clarify the water. The organizational aspect of all this is very important. And those who have resources must remember that it is thanks to these people or the victories of these people that they have these resources today.
The ideological aspect of all this is very important. Someone has to moderate. The Archbishop (leader of the protest movement "Sacred Struggle" Bagrat Galstanyan) can do it, and it will be a very important work and mission. But someone else can do this, but there must be an influential circle that will do more than just appeals, it will develop tactics for solving a difficult problem," Vahe Hovhannisyan noted.
The exact number of Armenian prisoners of war and hostages held in Azerbaijani prisons is still unknown. According to official data, there are 33 of them, but experts estimate that there are several hundred. Among those held in Azerbaijani captivity are 8 former and current representatives of the military-political leadership of Artsakh. These are former presidents of Artsakh Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, former Foreign Minister David Babayan, as well as Speaker of the Parliament David Ishkhanyan, former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, General Levon Mnatsakanyan, General David Manukyan and former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan.
