ArmInfo.Artur Martirosyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MESC) of Armenia, received representatives of the US National Science Foundation (NSF), Sohi Rastegar, and Alexander Simonyan. As reported by the press service of the department, the Deputy MESCS spoke discussed the successful collaboration between Armenia and the EU in higher education, focusing on programs such as the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programs during the meeting.
In this regard, Martirosyan expressed high regard for the collaboration with the US in the field of science and affirmed readiness to enhance cooperation with NSF. The Deputy MESCS also touched upon the progress of developing the new law "On Higher Education and Science". According to Martirosyan, the draft outlines standards for higher education quality, the university management and university consolidation to enhance research education. He also noted the planned establishment of the Academic City in Armenia as part of the "State Program for the Development of Education in the Republic of Armenia until 2030", with master plan concept already approved. In turn, NSF representative Sohi Rastegar expressed gratitude for the reception and praised the efforts of the Armenian government in developing science in the country. He presented the activities of the US NSF, emphasizing their interest in collaborating with Armenia.
