ArmInfo. On October 3, a meeting was held between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace. As reported by the press service of the RA government, the interlocutors discussed issues related to the Armenia-France multi-sectoral agenda.
The importance of continuous implementation of consistent steps aimed at the development and strengthening of friendly relations was emphasized. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the constant support of Paris and reiterated Armenia's willingness to take steps aimed at the development of all areas of bilateral interests. The French President reaffirmed his unconditional support for Armenia, as well as his readiness for consistent development of bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister touched upon the results of the discussions on the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan. He noted that 80% of the points of the draft have been agreed upon, and Armenia is ready to sign the document and continue further discussions. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the steps taken to ensure peace and stability in the region, expressing confidence that the signing of the document will contribute to the solution of this problem.
During the meeting, issues related to the RA government's "Crossroads of Peace" project were also discussed. Nikol Pashinyan stressed that Armenia is ready to unblock regional communications based on the principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity and equality. Emmanuel Macron expressed his country's support for the steps taken by the Armenian government to establish peace and stability, and at the same time welcomed the "Crossroads of Peace" project.
The social problems of persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and the RA government's housing program were also touched upon. In this regard, Nikol Pashinyan and Emmanuel Macron pointed out the need for consistent support of the international community in resolving the existing problems of refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. The Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of France also discussed issues related to Armenia-EU cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan noted that he counts on the continued support of friendly France in the matter of Armenia's cooperation with the EU.
At the same time, the Prime Minister of Armenia highly appreciated the role of the EU mission in Armenia and emphasized the important role of France in initiating the visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union and supporting Armenia with the European Peace Fund.
