ArmInfo. The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) of Armenia granted the motion of the Minister of Justice to bring to disciplinary responsibility the judge of the criminal court of first instance of Yerevan city Vahe Misakyan.
The proceedings against the judge are related to the criminal case of the leader of the Vazgen Manukyan. The latter was accused of public calls aimed at seizing power and violently overthrowing the constitutional order.
According to the submitted motion, disciplinary proceedings against the judge were initiated on the basis of the conclusion of the prosecutor's office on the fact of violation of the terms of the trial in the case of Vazgen Manukyan. In particular, according to the Ministry of Justice, Judge Misakyan, having accepted the case for consideration in March 2021, issued a verdict in June 2024, that is, he considered the case for a long time. Misakyan then found Manukyan guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 400,000 drams.
Earlier, Judge Misakyan was subjected to a disciplinary sanction - a severe reprimand, which has not yet been repaid, so imposing even the mildest disciplinary sanction on him leads to the termination of his powers.
Vahe Misakyan is the judge who presided over the trial of the "diesel" case, where Serzh Sargsyan was the accused. It was he who, on May 31, issued an acquittal against the third president due to the absence of corpus delicti, acquitting other defendants - Barsegh Beglaryan and Gevork Harutyunyan. The verdict was appealed by the Prosecutor General's Office to the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal. By the way, this case against Judge Misakyan was also initiated based on a report from the Prosecutor's Office to the Ministry of Justice.
