ArmInfo. The events taking place in the world are surely a cause for serious concern. We live in a difficult geopolitical period, characterized by an increase number of conflicts and crises, the weakening of multilateral institutions and the supremacy of international law.
This was stated by the head of the Armenian MFA Ararat Mirzoyan during his speech at the 45th Ministerial Forum of Francophonie. "Our organization, with its geographical and cultural diversity, its fundamental values, and its progressive agendas focusing on humanitarian, educational, cultural, environmental protection and the advancement of women, has sufficient potential to counter the aforementioned challenges. Armenia welcomes the draft "Resolution on crisis situations in the Francophone space, overcoming them and strengthening of peace", in which we comprehensively consider the existing security threats in the Francophone region and indicate ways to overcome them," the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
According to Mirzoyan, Yerevan considers it important that the resolution supports the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on respect for the territorial integrity of states, in accordance with the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991. "The resolution also welcomes the progress achieved in the process of delimitation of the interstate border in line with the principles reaffirmed in the Protocol of 19 April 2024 and calls for the reopening of regional communications based on respect for the principles of sovereignty, national jurisdiction, equality and reciprocity. Armenia is committed to continuing its efforts to establish lasting peace in the region. We have repeatedly expressed our readiness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan without further delay. I am confident that the support of the Francophone family will give a positive impetus to the peace process," Mirzoyan concluded.
