ArmInfo. Armenian Justice Minister Grigor Minasyan has resigned. He announced this on his Facebook account.
"Today I decided to follow the initiative of the National Assembly members who demanded my resignation. I submitted my resignation to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. In a parliamentary system of government, it will be difficult to hold on to the post of minister if you do not have positive cooperation with at least one MP. I was informed that I have a problem with about two dozen MPs from the ruling Civil Contract faction. I am very grateful and will always remember with love all the other MPs, all my colleagues in the government who supported me, became my friends, and, of course, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who gave me the greatest opportunity to work together. We have done a lot with them and with their help to reform the justice sector over the past two years. On our part, the government program has definitely been overfulfilled in terms of the number and quality of events. People see the built roads and schools right away, but the results of the new arbitration system, the reformed enforcement service, the digitalized civil process, the created probation service and many other reforms or hundreds of legislative and strategic "the changes will be used after some time," the head of the Ministry of Justice noted. He added that people have always expected justice ministers to quickly and immediately restore justice, but this is not the function of the minister, it is the prerogative of law enforcement agencies and the courts. "We are politicians whose activities are aimed at improving institutional systems. Much has already been done in both directions. The fruits will come soon, but already under the next ministers. Of course, it was possible to be more patient, stay and fight for all this and continue to calmly present the enormous work done, but I decided to return to a more familiar environment for me. The private sector can also contribute to the justice sector," Grigor Minasyan noted.
Earlier a group of MPs from the ruling Civil Contract faction began collecting signatures for an appeal to the head of government demanding the resignation of Grigor Minasyan. To collect signatures, it was necessary to collect 24 signatures. The dissatisfaction of the parliamentarians is caused by the fact that the government should include a person from the ruling team. The MPs also took into account the fact that the current Minister of Justice is the brother of the former Ambassador to the Vatican Mikael Minasyan, the son-in-law of the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. The situation was aggravated by the fact that Sirvard Gevorgyan, a classmate of the daughter of the second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, was recently appointed to the post of Deputy Minister. The latter, by the way, left her post after the ensuing discussions.
