ArmInfo. The United Nations must resist attempts to create situations where the use of force in interstate relations, acts of aggression, gross violations of human rights and international humanitarian law are considered the norm. This was stated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the discussions in New York entitled "In Search of a United, Secure Future around the UN Charter", organized by the UN Security Council as part of the "Leadership for Peace" event.
"The global crisis has undermined the multilateral security system. We continue to witness a growing number of conflicts and crises that have a severe impact on civilians, including the most vulnerable. Since the topic of today's discussion is "Leadership for Peace", I would like to share my conviction that peace requires leadership and genuine political courage. I and the government led by me are determined to end the conflict in our region and transform the current dynamics into cooperation for prosperity, stability and peace. Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan. The Armenian side has proposed to sign the already agreed articles of the peace treaty before COP29 in Baku, thus creating an enabling environment for advancing the peace process," the Prime Minister of Armenia said.
He added that the Armenian government's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative is aimed at unlocking the region's economic potential and strengthening economic and cultural ties, thereby promoting political dialogue and achieving comprehensive peace for the benefit of all peoples. "We are ready to use the positive dynamics and continue the border demarcation process based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. Strong and unequivocal support from the UN for Armenia's efforts to establish a just and lasting peace in the region is extremely important," Nikol Pashinyan emphasized.
