ArmInfo. The visit of the President of Armenia to Turkmenistan in October 2024 will be an important milestone in bilateral relations. This was noted by the Ambassador of Armenia to Turkmenistan Ruben Kharazyan in an article dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia and published in the official newspaper <Neutral Turkmenistan>.
The Ambassador noted that Turkmenistan is an important partner of Armenia, with whom close and friendly relations have been established. These relations, based on mutual understanding and trust, include cooperation in areas such as trade, economics, science and culture.
<One striking example is the planned visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to the International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and philosopher Maxdumqoli Faragi. The event is scheduled to take place on October 11, 2024. This visit will serve as an important milestone in the bilateral relations between Armenia and Turkmenistan and will provide an opportunity to discuss prospects for further cooperation,> the diplomat noted. It is also mentioned that in recent years, there has been a significant strengthening of economic relations: in 2023, bilateral trade turnover increased by 50%, and in the first 6 months of 2024, the increase was 5% compared the previous year. In 2023, the volume of bilateral trade turnover reached $21.3 mln, and by the end of the first seven months of 2024, this figure reached $12 mln.
<However, despite the positive dynamics, this figure still does not meet the needs and expectations of the parties, indicating the existence of significant potential for further development and deepening of cooperation>, the article reads.
