ArmInfo. It's amazing how times change, before I heard from some Armenian figures that seizing power is true democracy. This is how the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responded to a request to comment on the message from the National Security Service of Armenia about prevention a coup d'etat in the Republic, the traces of which lead to the Russian Federation.
"The desire of several Armenian officials to twist the message of the Investigative Committee of Armenia about the prevention of an attempted coup d'etat in hopes of finding a Russian trace there is absurd and cannot withstand any criticism. In my opinion, this is a deliberately fabricated lie," the diplomat said.
According to Zakharova, Russia does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, unlike the West. She finds it regrettable that some circles in the Republic are adopting the hackneyed tactics of Westerners, who in recent decades have resorted to whipping up Russophobic sentiments and searching for an imaginary Russian threat," she said. She suggested putting the economic component at the forefront between the countries, for example, and solving the existing problems in a mutually respectful environment. "Logic suggests that this is what should have been done, but if things are happening differently, then the point is different. Namely, an attempt to absolve oneself of responsibility for the mistakes made and shift it onto others. "Armenia should be wary not of the CSTO or Russia, but of the West and their satellites, which have long been inspired by color revolutions," she said, suggesting to look at the situation around Georgia as clear proof of her words.
At the same time, Zakharova did not rule out the possibility that consultants from Western services are behind this "clumsily cobbled together pseudo-sensation." "Their task is simply to prevent an improvement in the bilateral relations, especially considering the upcoming Russian-Armenian high-level contacts.," she noted, suggesting to examine the information background in Armenia. According to her, it is increasingly anti-Russian. She attributed this to the significant number of American embassy staff in Yerevan, many of whom specialize in the information sphere.
