When leaving, leave! - Zakharova to Sejourne

This was stated at a briefing on September 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in response to a request to comment on the words of the outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs and Europe of France, Stefan Sejourne, during his visit to Yerevan that Moscow was trying to put pressure on the Republic of Armenia. 

"The Russian Foreign Ministry thinks that when leaving, leave! And  especially since everything was so inept, then you need to leave  quietly - this is, firstly. And secondly, it is surprising that our  allies, our brothers, partners, neighbors, our friends - I mean the  political leadership and officials, representatives, including the  public in Armenia, do not react to this. This was said in the  vastness of Armenia," Zakharova noted.

At the same time, the Russian diplomat assured that if such a thing  had been said on Russian territory in relation to friends of the  Russian Federation, partners and allies who often defended them at  the cost of their lives, Moscow would have found a way to pull them  up short.

"And remind them that our history does not allow such a derogatory  attitude towards it from third parties.  Therefore, what is there to  comment on. An absolutely talentless figure - from the point of view  of diplomacy, once again demonstrating his talentlessness, ignorance  of history and traditions," the diplomat noted.

Zakharova considered "what was said about Russia to be stupid and  talentless, and disrespectful towards Armenia, which he visited."

"But, on the other hand, the West has no other agenda in this region  than destructive. All they need is to pit the countries of this  region against each other. They do not help in development, they do  not help in solving problems. They are not ready to lie down on the  embrasures in order to separate the conflicting parties, you  understand? They can only pit, humiliate, insult and destroy," the  representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added, noting that  this is another manifestation of this. 

At the same time, according to her, after the failure at the  Olympics, it is generally inappropriate to say such things, but it is  better to work on your own mistakes. It should be noted that the head  of the French Foreign Ministry during his visit to Yerevan noted that  Armenia continues its democratic path, despite pressure from Russia.  Today, visiting Yerevan, I also want to express France's support for  Armenia and the Armenian people, despite the obvious threats and  hostility that Russia is showing, wanting to suppress the Republic of  Armenia. Despite this, Armenia continues its path towards democracy  and freedom. Moving forward step by step, implementing each stage,"  said the French diplomat.
