On September 18-20, Deputy Prosecutor General Srbuhi Galyan, who oversees the sphere of confiscation of property of illegal origin, took part in a conference in Serbia on the topic of "Implementation of additional instruments of criminal confiscation", held under the auspices of the Council of Europe.
As reported by the press service of the supervisory body, in her speech, the Deputy Prosecutor General welcomed the participants of the event, pointing out the importance of cooperation between states in the above-mentioned area. She presented the legislative norms, practice and experience of Armenia in the sphere of confiscation of property of illegal origin.
Srbuhi Galyan, in particular, noted that since the establishment of the Department for the Confiscation of Illegally Originated Property, 537 studies have been conducted, 192 petitions have been filed with the courts regarding 163 individuals. "We have filed 110 lawsuits with the courts, in which we demand the confiscation of about 1,205 immovable and 230 movable properties of illegal origin in favor of the Republic of Armenia, as well as participation in the authorized capital of about 320 legal entities, the total value of which is about 566 billion drams," the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia said, adding that within the framework of the confiscation of illegally originated property, the supervisory body has concluded 8 agreements, according to which 7 immovable and 1 movable property objects with a total value of about 4.1 billion drams have been transferred to the republic.
According to Srbuhi Galyan, according to 3 decisions made by the Anti-Corruption Court in 2024, 5 real estate and 2 movable property objects, as well as participation in the authorized capital of 2 legal entities with a total market value of 1.123 billion drams, as well as about 1.8 billion drams will be confiscated in favor of the Republic of Armenia.
