ArmInfo.There is a decision by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to a new Constitution, said Armenian Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan on September 19 at a regular meeting of the Council on Constitutional Reform.
According to the Ministry of Justice's report, the Council continued its discussion on the issue of abolishing the principle of a stable parliamentary majority, submitted by the head of the public organization and a member of the Council Daniel Ioannisyan. Grigor Minasyan emphasized the desire to abolish the regulation of a , but stressed that this should only be done after the entire Constitution.
The Council voted to approve the proposal to abolish the constitutional requirement for the formation of a stable political majority, as defined in Part 3 of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. The proposal submitted by Daniel Ioannisyan to implement the change through a conceptual proposal was rejected by a majority vote of the Constitutional Reform Council. The majority of the council members also voted against separating the issue of "abolishing the principle of a stable parliamentary majority" from the entire reform in 2026, ahead of the NA elections and introducing the corresponding change through the National Assembly," the Ministry of Justice states in a press release.
