ArmInfo.MEP Nathalie Loiseau, speaking at a regular meeting, called on COP29 participants to urge authorities in Azerbaijan to release Armenian prisoners and create conditions for the return of internally displaced persons to Nagorno-Karabakh. She emphasized that today marks the first anniversary of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh and that none of the over 100,000 refugees have yet been able to return to their homes.
According to her, Azerbaijan continues to hold Armenian prisoners and does not allow them to return home. The spiritual and cultural heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh is under threat, and Armenian cultural monuments are being destroyed. And in these conditions, Azerbaijan is going to host COP29. <All those who are going to visit Baku should consider it as their moral obligation to urge Azerbaijani authorities to release prisoners and create conditions for the return of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh to their homes>, said Nathalie Loiseau.
