ArmInfo. At the moment, the issue of Armenia withdrawing claims against Azerbaijan from international courts is not on the agenda. This statement was made by the RA representative for international legal issues Yeghishe Kirakosyan at the Global Armenian Summit on September 18 in Yerevan.
<The legal process is ongoing and we are awaiting the courts' decisions. International legal processes should not be seen as conflicting with the peace process. Any such oppositions are artificial. It is not suprising that this idea comes from Azerbaijan, where it was first voiced. This implies that Azerbaijan is concerned about legal processes. Court proceedings and decisions have a significant impact on Azerbaijan's behavior as a country>, he noted. According to him, the continuation of the process is important as part of the peace process and they also play a key role in achieving long-term peace.
<The legal process is not only initiated to restore violated rights, but in interstate affairs it is also a <battle> of narratives>, - Kirakosyan noted. As part of this process, as noted by the expert, many narratives that have been disseminated by Azerbaijan for decades are being refuted. In addition, Armenia's positions are being strengthened. <The lawsuits concern not only Armenians from Artsakh, but all Armenians in general. We are talking about an attempt to erase the traces of Armenians in the region>, - emphasized Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the RA representative for international legal issues.
