ArmInfo. Armenia is ready to provide communications throughout the territory of the republic, but with the condition that the sovereignty, territorial integrity and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia are safeguarded.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement at the Global Armenian Summit on September 18, in response to a question regarding Yerevan's "red lines" concerning the opening of regional communications. According to him, the meaning of the "Crossroads of Peace" project is the willingness to open all roads that pass through Armenia.
"In Syunik, Tavush, Shirak, Gegharkunik, and Vayots Dzor, we are ready to provide access to our roads leading to all possible destinations. However, it is important that they adhere to the following principles: no detours and no infringement upon the sovereignty, territorial integrity and jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia, as is the case in all countries around the world>, he said. When we discussed opening regional communications, Azerbaijan's reaction was as follows: if Armenia does not want this, we will carry out these projects through the territory of Iran. First and foremost, I would like to officially state once again that Armenia wants and is prepared to offer the opportunity for travel on the same terms as the IRI. Moreover, we do not rule out certain simplifications of procedures and view this as part of a bilateral approach>, Nikol Pashinyan said.
