ArmInfo. The Ombudsman's Office of Armenia has been included in the list of institutions under threat, according to the 2024 report of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI). This was reported by the press service of the RA Ombudsman.
In particular, the report talks about the challenges faced by the Office of the Ombudsman in carrying out work related to the protection of the rights of women, persons with disabilities, incitement to hatred, intolerance, combating discrimination, etc. Along with the Office of the Ombudsman of Armenia, the report also mentions other ENNHRI member institutions that have been subjected to attacks, incitement to hatred or intimidation, including Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova and Slovakia.
According to the assessment given in the report, the campaign against the Human Rights Defender in Armenia is of an organized nature.
The European Network of National Human Rights Institutions reiterated its support to the Armenian Human Rights Defender in his work to promote and protect all human rights. ENNHRI has previously expressed serious concerns and issued a statement regarding threats and attacks against the Human Rights Defender and the staff of the office by political figures due to the work carried out in the field of human rights protection.
