ArmInfo. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko spoke in favor of maintaining good relations with Armenia.
"It would be nice if we could have good relations with Armenia again, despite any past shortcomings and nuances. Believe me, we are not at fault in this situation. We have tried to help Armenians in every possible way, we have cooperated with them as the closest people, we have provided all the help we could. But now, you see, they want to go to the West, to the EU," Lukashenko said at a meeting with representatives of various nationalities living in Belarus. "What West? We are not against cooperation with the West, including the Americans, but you see their policy. Tomorrow a new leadership will take power in America, possibly even the old-new one (Kamala Harris, etc.) - and you will see a completely different policy. They have a tendency to say, "Who are you? We don't know you. No, it wasn't us," Alexander Lukashenko gave an example of the communication logic of the American establishment. - This is their policy. And I've been constantly telling your leadership about this. I say, if you don't understand, let me clarify: I'm an old man in politics. I have seen a lot of things. You can't trust them."
In any case, the President urged not to lose the existing cooperation with traditional partners. "Various things may occur. But do not lose what you already possess. Better a fowl in hand that two flying. Let's keep that fowl in your hand. Don't lose this friendship, this brotherhood. It's a single market in the economy, it's mutual aid. Make sure not to lose it, because if you lose it, you may not gain anything there," Lukashenko advised. "Do you think Armenia is expected somewhere? Nobody is waiting for us, neither Armenia nor Ukraine (look, it will happen before our eyes). Everyone is busy with their own issues. And they want to solve their problems at the expense of others," the President noted. "Armenians are very smart people. In the near future they will figure out where their happiness lies," said the Belarusian leader.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized the exceptionally positive attitude to the representatives of the Armenian Diaspora in Belarus. "You are no longer Armenians to me - you are Belarusians. You are our people, our citizens," he emphasized. In this regard, the Belarusian leader highlighted a special consideration to people who have arrived in Belarus not only from Armenia, but also from other places. "You have lost your way, it is your destiny. And many of you didn't come here out of joy. We must embrace you as apart of our family, provide you with warmth, and ensure that you are able to work and earn a living," said the President.
"Moreover, all of those who have come here are literate people who know how to value their families. Some of them even start a family right here in Belarus." Alexander Lukashenko pointed out that such mixed families often give birth to beautiful and talented children: "The girls are beauties, and the men are smart people. I truly believe this. Just take a look at these mixed families. Get more of them to come. Let families come. There is enough work and land for everyone," Alexander Lukashenko noted.
