ArmInfo. Following my speech in the European Parliament last year, discussions are underway in Armenia regarding the possibility of starting the process of joining the European Union (EU).
The Prime Minister of Armenia stated this during a meeting with Margaritis Schinas, the Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for the Protection of the European Way of Life.
"This is not an easy issue, but it has become part of Armenia's political agenda. Therefore, it is necessary to approach this topic comprehensively, taking into account all the details. It will also be important to listen to the comments and advice of our EU partners," the head of government added. Pashinyan also stressed the importance of launching visa liberalization negotiations and making a decision on supporting the Republic of Armenia through the European Peace Facility. He also highlighted the significance of the European civilian mission in Armenia for maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Margaritis Schinas, in turn, emphasized the EU's interest in developing relations with Armenia and assisting in advancing reforms in the country. In this regard, the Vice-President of the European Commission expressed hope for effective cooperation with the Armenian government in the dialogue process on visa liberalization.
