ArmInfo. Our commitment is to give the Armenians the opportunity to live in an independent country, without feeling a climate of fear, without being afraid of the position of their neighbor.
This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel during a press conference in Yerevan. He noted that throughout its history, Luxembourg has also had difficult neighbors, including France, Germany, Belgium, but today not only do they all live in peace, harmony and security, but they also have shared projects. "This is a big dream for Armenia that young people live peacefully so that they don't have to worry about the position of their neighbor," the minister said, noting that as the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a former prime minister, he never accepts the rule of power.
Bettel said that he visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan today. "We cannot change history, but we must learn lessons, this is our obligation to give the Armenian people the opportunity to live in an independent country, without feeling a climate of fear, without being afraid of the position of their neighbor. Not to live in the atmosphere of choosing between black and white, but to live according to your decisions, making your decisions based on your interests," the minister said.
He also emphasized that the youth of Armenia should understand that the EU is not on the other side of the globe, but much closer. Bettel noted that strengthening cooperation with Armenia, including through the launch of a dialogue on visa liberalization, speaks of shared values. In this regard, the minister noted that Armenia is taking many steps forward for the rule of law and for the implementation of the best international legislative practices.
