ArmInfo.The hot literary days have begun in Yerevan. The already traditional International Yerevan Book Festival (Yerevan Book Fest - YBF) is taking place in Republic Square for 3 days (from September 6 to 8). The festival has brought together over 40 publishing houses, bookstores and cultural organizations from Armenia and abroad.
The Yerevan Book Fest expands its participants and guests geography every year, becoming a truly international cultural event. This year, the YBF program is quite eventful - 32 events will be held in the capital, including meetings with famous writers and poets from Armenia, Russia, Germany, Spain, Slovenia, Italy and other countries. As the deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Daniel Danielyan noted, the festival is gaining momentum in the context of international relations. Due to the demand and scale of the event, the department is considering the possibility of expanding the festival to regions of Armenia, particularly through an application.
Recalling that the current academic year has been declared the Year of Cultural Education by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Danielyan noted that the start of the festival in September is the best symbol of this decision and a good signal for children and young people. On the last day of the festival, the award ceremony for the best writers of Armenia in 4 categories will traditionally be held: , , , and . A total of 250 applications were received for participation in the competition, but the jury selected 185 works for consideration. The winners will be chosen through blind reading.
In addition to the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the opening ceremony was attended by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan and other City Hall employees. The festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and is organized in cooperation with the Museum of Literature and Art named after E.
