ArmInfo.Swedish MP Erik Hellsborn has drawn attention of President of the European Commission Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen to blatant violations of human rights by Azerbaijan.
His message reads as follows:
-Additional democracy and human rights activists have been detained. Likely to scare the opposition from protesting during the upcoming COP29 summit, with many of the world's top politicians in attendance.
- 76 PACE members have been banned from entering the country, after standing up to the dictatorship. Including my SD-colleagues Markus Wiechel and Beatrice Timgren.
- The ruling "New Azerbaijan Party" won the parliamentary elections. Just as they have won every parliamentary and presidential election in the last 30 years.
- New cases of aggressive rhetoric against Armenia, with accusations that the Armenian military have been firing on Azeri border positions. Armenia denies this, and there are no reasons to distrust them. Armenia has nothing to gain and everything to lose from such provocations.
- A thorough article by @CanbackRasmus shows how the regime prevented the International Red Cross from helping civilians in Artsakh during last year's blockade and subsequent ethnic cleansing. It also shows how the Red Crescent operating in Azerbaijan is on the regime's leash and spreads its propaganda.
This is your "reliable partner", Mrs. von der Leyen.
