ArmInfo. The Armenian people are going through the most fateful period in their history. This was stated by Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia Aram I in his message dedicated to Artsakh Independence Day.
According to him, Artsakh has been de-Armenianized, and Azerbaijan continues to threaten Armenia.
"In fact, Armenia and the Armenians have been left alone in the face of current threats. But we cannot remain silent, and today the priority is to consolidate everyone around the Armenian agenda," Aram I noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that Artsakh is not the past for the Armenian people. "If the enemy, after occupying Artsakh, is confident that the Artsakh issue has been resolved, then for our people the Artsakh issue has not been resolved. Until the people of Artsakh return and restore their right to self-determination on their historical lands under international auspices, the Armenian identity of Artsakh cannot be considered resolved by force of arms historically and according to international law. History proves that seizures made due to circumstances and force of arms have always been temporary," added the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.
According to him, for the Armenian people, the full restoration of the Armenian identity of Artsakh should become a daily struggle, first of all on the domestic front. "The state of Armenia, our church, our national structures, Armenia and the Diaspora should unite around this national agenda, the restoration and affirmation of the Armenian identity of Artsakh, this should also push us to consistent and systematic work with the international community. It is necessary to emphasize the Armenian identity of Artsakh with real facts," Aram I continued, also pointing out the importance of restoring the Armenian army.
At the same time, he noted that the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia should always prioritize the Artsakh issue during meetings with government officials, religious representatives and diplomatic bodies. "Dear Artsakh Armenians, stick to your cause, your land, soaked in the blood of heroes, do not turn into a diaspora, stay on your native land, direct your souls, your thoughts, your hearts, your collective struggle to our beloved Artsakh. Be sure, Armenia, the whole nation is with you, supporting your struggle," Aram I concluded.
