ArmInfo. Despite the state's desire to make life easier for people with disabilities, there are still many unresolved issues in this area. As reported by the press service of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Ombudsman Anahit Manasyan stated this at the international conference "Access to Services for People with Disabilities".
At the same time, she expressed confidence that it is necessary to see these problems and try to find quick and professional solutions for them.
"Ensuring inclusiveness is one of the key elements in ensuring the rights of people with disabilities," the human rights defender noted in her speech.
The Ombudsman of Armenia also touched upon the issue of accessibility of education for people with disabilities, noting the need to provide educational materials in Braille, as well as sign language interpretation in educational institutions. In addition, she raised issues related to the accessibility of banking services, digital services, including websites, as well as the accessibility of the healthcare system.
"The environment is usually inaccessible to people with disabilities. In this context, it is necessary to raise issues and urgently seek effective solutions," Manasyan concluded. The international conference "Access to Services for People with Disabilities" was held at the initiative of the My Step Charitable Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. The purpose of the event is to unite organizations providing services to people with disabilities, as well as to consider international experience and tools with the aim of adapting them to Armenian realities.
