ArmInfo. Yerevan is preparing to install a monument to the world- famous French singer of Armenian descent Charles Aznavour in the heart of the capital.
As reported by the press service of the Yerevan Municipality, the opening of the monument is scheduled for May 22, 2025, as the final ceremony of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great singer's birth.
The capital's municipality reminds that the winner of the competition for the best project, announced several months ago, was David Minasyan's work - "La Boheme" ("Bohemia"). "Now the model is already turning into a full-scale sculpture, which will take its place in the very center of Yerevan," the capital's municipality added.
The monument will be installed on Charles Aznavour Square (next to the Moscow Cinema). Earlier, the Yerevan Municipality promised to install the monument in October 2024. Let us add that the meeting of the Professional Commission was held at the National Art Gallery of Armenia.
The members of the Commission did not see the names of the authors, but voted only for the sketch number. The competition, which was announced for the second time by the Municipality in November 2023, was attended by 60 authors who submitted over 100 sketches.
