ArmInfo. The amount of precipitation in Armenia in July of this year exceeded the norm for this month by more than 190%, as reported by the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.
In July, Armenia experienced an average precipitation of 84.4 mm, making it the seventh highest amount since 1935 and the most significant since July 1965. Rain fall occurred throughout the entire month. However, during the second ten-day period of July, there was relatively low precipitation, while the third ten-day period experienced the most abundant rainfall. The air temperature in July was within the norm.
The monthly precipitation was above the norm in most parts of the republic. In the Ararat Valley, Tavush and Gegharkunik the amount of precipitation exceeded the norm by 2-3 times in some areas. On certain days, heavy rains were observed in the Tavush, Lori and Kotayk regions, with 30-44 mm of precipitation falling in just a few hours. Despite the rainy July of this year, an analysis of precipitation over many years (1935-2024) shows that the amount of precipitation in Armenia decreases during the summer season, including July.
