ArmInfo. By the decree of the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, Gurgen Arsenyan has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation.
The decree of August 14 was published on the official website of the president. Let us recall that on August 13, Arsenyan's parliamentary powers were terminated.
In early June, Armenian media, citing Russian sources, reported that Moscow had finally issued an agrement to appoint Gurgen Arsenyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction, as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation. It was noted that the request was sent back in the fall of last year, but there had long been rumors that Moscow had rejected the agrement.
According to the source, the decision was made on May 8, when Nikol Pashinyan went to Moscow for a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union. He personally asked Vladimir Putin to accept Gurgen Arsenyan's agrement.
