ArmInfo. On August 14, at a meeting with residents of the Yeraz district, the leader of the protest movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, touched upon the statements of the representative of the President of Azerbaijan for special assignments Elchin Amirbekov that the latter discussed the issue of amending the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

<The representative of Azerbaijan stated that they had reached an agreement with the Antichrist, according to which the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia must be amended, or more precisely, we are talking about the Declaration of Independence, which means the non-existence of the state.

This also speaks of the humiliation of our Foreign Ministry, which does not react in any way>, - Galstanyan said. The archbishop demanded that the authorities, who declared themselves <transparent>, provide clarification on this issue and say what agreements there are with the leadership of Azerbaijan.

Earlier, Azerbaijani media quoted Elchin Amirbekov as saying that  "territorial claims against Azerbaijan, enshrined in the current  Armenian constitution, remain the only obstacle to further progress in the peace process between Baku and Yerevan." As the representative of the Azerbaijani president told Radio Liberty, he discussed this issue with Pashinyan. "Now he wants to put forward the argument that this is a very difficult process from a political point of view, that the draft constitution may not be ready until 2027. Very well, this is also an option, but is the outside world ready to wait that long for the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan? Because it is obvious that we do not need to rush and sign a document that can be cancelled by the new government," he said.
