ArmInfo. Today was the last working day for the scientific and technical library of the National Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This 60-year-old giant- insitution, housing approximately 22 million units of literature, has been officially liquidated. Garnik Danielyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "Armenia", shared this news on his Facebook page.
In this regard, he mentioned that approximately 72 devoted employees were left unemployed. "The library is unique in its essence: the patent fund comprises 17 million titles/18 million copies of documents from 77 countries in 66 languages.
The rich funds include special types of technical documentation such as patents, normative and technical documents, technical conditions related to production, industrial catalogs, as well as various rich funds of documents covering the field of scientific and technical direction including books, periodicals and electronic publications, printed journals, and dissertation abstracts.
It is sad to see unique documents and books and think about their fate being consigned to obscurity. What is this, if not a conscious step, designed to deal another blow to our science and education system?" the deputy asked.
At the same time, Danielyan reported that during a meeting with employees he noted that their struggle during those months was not in vain. "I sincerely hope that such an unfounded decision will be cancelled in the near future, and the Scientific and Technical Library will continue its activities, serving as the basis for the development of science, economics and industry," the deputy concluded.
