The head of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan assessed the Armenian team's performance at the Olympic Games in Paris.
"The Olympic Games in Paris have come to an end. The world was captivated by Paris for about two weeks. It served as a wonderful platform for peaceful competition among nations and states, and our small Armenia participated here with dignity and on an equal footing, competing with the world's strongest," Tsarukyan noted.
The head of the NOC expressed gratitude to the athletes, coaches, and members of the Armenian delegation for the enormous work they have done. He mentioned that this work often goes unnoticed by sports fans and the public.
"Thank you to our athletes for providing our people with moments of joy and pride during these challenging times.
Our people really need this, and you did it with honor.
I want to thank our sports fans - our sincere, deserving, dear sports fans. The spirit of Armenians from all over the world was felt in Paris and gave strength to the athletes and the team," Tsarukyan noted, also expressing special gratitude to the Armenian community of France for supporting the Armenian team.
There are new tournaments ahead - the World and European Championships. For many, Paris was just the beginning. Life goes on, and tomorrow the preparations for Los Angeles 2028 will begin. We must do everything to have a more powerful state, a more united society and a larger and stronger Olympic team," the head of the NOC concluded.
It should be noted that this time Armenia has the worst results in terms of the number of medals in the South Caucasus. It occupies only the 66th place in the unofficial standings. The best result was achieved by Georgia, which is in the 24th place. Georgian athletes won seven medals - three gold, three silver and one bronze. Azerbaijan is in 30th place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.
