ArmInfo. The Human Rights Defender of Armenia demands a proper investigation into the case of the beating of Aram Yeritsyan (brother of lawyer Roman Yeritsyan - ed.), since the fact of bodily harm inflicted on Yeritsyan was recorded. This was stated by the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan in a conversation with journalists on August 8.
"Those responsible must be punished", - Manasyan said. According to her, there is a problem at the systemic level, which must be systematically resolved.
On August 1, Roman Yeritsyan reported that about 10 patrol officers brutally beat his brother and took him to the police station with various injuries. The rapid response team of the Ombudsman's office, having received a signal about the incident, went to the police station to clarify all the details of the incident.
On August 2, the Ministry of Internal Affairs gave an explanation regarding the lawyer's statement, noting that Yeritsyan was not beaten, but during his arrest he himself <inflicted blows and resisted the patrol officers>, in connection with which the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case.
The investigation filed a motion for arrest with the court. However, 18 hours before the trial, Roman Yeritsyan posted a video on a social network in which police officers beat his brother and handcuffed him. Under the video, he wrote that "the video footage is from a camera on the uniform of a patrol officer, but the investigator refused to provide the video from the camera of the second patrol officer, since I suspect that the second recording contains insults against the people of Artsakh>. The motion for arrest was completely rejected by the court, and the arrest was declared illegal. A motion of similar content was rejected the day before.
