ArmInfo. The 11th Pan-Armenian Educational Conference began in Armenia, with approximately 100 delegates from 15 countries participating. The conference will be held on August 5-9 in Aghveran.
As reported by the press service of the MESCS of Armenia, the opening ceremony was attended by Artur Martirosyan, the Deputy Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Armenia, Mushegh Ghukasyan, the Chief of Staff of the Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and universities.
Martirosyan welcomed the participants of the event, emphasizing that the conference is an important platform for presenting successful experience in organizing Armenian education in communities, large- scale educational reforms implemented in Armenia, discussing the challenges of increasing the efficiency of organizing Armenian education in the Diaspora and exploring the possibilities of developing educational and cultural ties between Armenia and the Diaspora.
"In the resolution that will be adopted following the conference, we expect to receive valuable proposals and new solutions to problems that can be formulated as programs to be financed both from the state budget and with the involvement of the private sector (including contributions from the Diaspora)," Martirosyan concluded.
He also informed the media that there are 15 Armenian study centers operating in 12 Diaspora countries with state funding. The idea of creating a network university of Armenian studies is currently being considered. The main purpose of this network would be to promote the advancement of scientific research, facilitate the implementation of new research programs, encourage academic and student mobility and enhance the appeal of the centers. He mentioned that an Armenian studies conference is scheduled to take place in one of the European countries in November to discuss the future direction of this initiative.
